#1/8(5y+64) = 1/4(2y+20)#

multiply both sides by 8:

#5y+64 = 2(2y+20)#

multiply out brackets:

#5y+64 = 4y+40#

subtract 4y from both sides:

#y+64=40#

subtract 64:

#y = 40-64 = -24#

#y=-24#
