#10 - 2(n + 7) = 2n + 16#

Removing the bracket first you will have..

#10 -2n -14 = 2n + 16#

Simplifying..

#-2n - 4 = 2n + 16#

Collecting like terms..

#-2n - 2n = 16 + 4#

#-4n = 20#

#(cancel(-4n))/cancel4 = 20/4#

#-n = 20/4#

#-n = 5#

#n = -5#
